Dry Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) unsweetened applesauce
- 1/3 cup (80ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
- 2 large eggs room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1/2 cup (50g) chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 cup (75g) raisins or chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar + 1/2 tsp cinnamon Topping
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk sugars, applesauce, oil, eggs, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
Make Batter:
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Gently fold until just combined (do not overmix).
Fold in optional add-ins (nuts, raisins, or chocolate chips).
Bake:
Bake 18–20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
